Assal Kokani was born from a simple idea: everyone deserves access to authentic, homemade Kokani food products. We work directly with families and home cooks in the Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts of Maharashtra to bring you pickles, masalas, mango products, and natural foods made the traditional way — no factories, no preservatives, just pure Konkan flavour. Our mission is to preserve the rich culinary heritage of the Konkan coast while empowering local producers with fair trade opportunities and sustainable livelihoods.
Our Story
Growing up in Konkan, the taste of homemade mango pickle, fresh kokum syrup, and hand-ground masalas was part of everyday life. When we moved to the city, we realised how hard it was to find these authentic flavours. Supermarket shelves were full of mass-produced alternatives loaded with preservatives and artificial ingredients that tasted nothing like the real thing. That is why we started Assal Kokani in 2023 — to bridge the gap between Konkan's rich culinary heritage and food lovers everywhere. What began as a small initiative to share our family recipes has grown into a community of over a hundred home cooks and farming families across the Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg districts.
